Pic: High school students of Gadag district saw various working models, specimen, demonstrations related to human body in Medivision-2025 organised by GIMS on its 10th anniversary; Minister HK Patil looks at models on effects of tobacco consumptionGadag: To celebrate its 10th anniversary, KH Patil Institute of Medical Sciences, Gadag, formerly known as GIMS, launched ‘Medivision-2025′, a unique health exhibition. The event, spread across 105 stalls, showcases human anatomy with models and specimens. Doctors and technicians are demonstrating CPR and explaining body systems. About 30,000 visitors are expected over three days.Dr Basavaraj Bommanahalli, institute director, told TOI that the medical exhibition is aimed at students from class 6 to 10 and PUC science stream from across the district. “Interested public are also allowed to visit. As many as 105 stalls of 21 departments, including general medicine, psychiatry, surgery, ent, blood, liver, kidney, bones and skeleton, anatomy, obstetrics, and gynaecology, are installed here, and two permanent museums are sensitising students on human anatomy, physiology, and diseases. Each department has set up 5-10 stalls focusing on procedures like delivery, caesarean section, paediatrics, instruments, fracture-plate, screw, 206 bones of the body, robotics surgery, OT complex, etc. Students are eagerly watching emergency procedures like cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to save someone from cardiac arrest. As many as 8,200 school children visited the exhibition on the first day itself,” he explained.Medical students Susmita and Fasiha said that the exhibition is also focusing on nutrition and food diet. “School students are enjoying fun games that sensitise them through wheeling education, stomach, intestine, thyroid issues. They are eagerly watching a baby’s specimen kept in formalin. It’s a learning experience for us too. Students’ questions are making us alert enough,” they shared.Rita, Ashwini, Sanaulla, Vijay, and others from a local private school said that models and demonstrations are very lively and simple to understand. “It was helpful to understand our biology syllabus. We are also sensitised about first aid and precautionary measures to remain away from diseases like cancer,” they shared.District minister HK Patil, Shirahatti MLA Dr Chandru Lamani, MLC SV Sankanur, Gadag DC CN Sreedhara, SP Rohan Jagadish, DDPI RS Burdi, and others were among the visitors.Exhibition closes by 5pm on Wednesday.
