Noida: Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) are exploring the feasibility of constructing a roughly 3km link road between two major corridors to provide seamless connectivity from Greater Noida to Noida International Airport.To that end, the Authority has decided to link its 130-metre wide road with Yamuna Authority’s 120-metre wide road. Once ready, the link road could ease pressure on Yamuna Expressway by rerouting traffic for Greater Noida, Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad through this stretch.Currently, the 130-metre road runs from Char Murti Chowk in Greater Noida West to Sirsa village, covering nearly 30km. However, a 3km patch is incomplete to connect the 120-metre road of Yamuna Authority, which connects to Jewar.The road sees heavy vehicular movement daily and with the expected rise in traffic — once the airport becomes operational — the authority is also undertaking widening work along this route.On Monday, Greater Noida Authority’s additional CEO Sumit Yadav, along with other officials from the project department, carried out a site inspection of the 130-metre road.Yadav said, “Once the two roads are connected, it is expected to ease travel for residents of Greater Noida West, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad to the greenfield airport in Jewar. The authority also plans to construct an underpass near Sirsa village to cross the Eastern Peripheral Expressway as part of the proposed connectivity.”The proposed connection between the two roads is crucial for establishing a direct, high-capacity link to the upcoming airport.At present, the absence of a seamless corridor forces commuters to take longer, congested routes, particularly those travelling from Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad.With the airport expected to become a major regional transit hub, this linkage will not only reduce travel time but also support planned urban and industrial expansion along the corridor.Abhishek Kumar, a resident of Greater Noida West, said the population of Greater Noida West has increased to about 5 lakh. “It will be a good move if the two roads are connected to provide a seamless travel experience to the airport,” he said.The link road could not be developed earlier because Greater Noida Authority had not acquired land from farmers in the area. An official said the surrounding region has gradually developed. “We completed the 30-km stretch, but a portion remained unfinished due to pending land acquisition. Now, with the Noida International Airport nearing completion, we will soon acquire the remaining land and complete the link road,” the official added.The road is strategically important as it lies near the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and connects key areas such as residential sectors Sigma III, IV, Omicron 1A, XU III and villages like Sirsa, Dadha and Khanpur. It also serves the nearby industrial zone of Ecotech 11.Anand Bhati, a resident of Sirsa village, said the incomplete road has made navigation difficult. “Greater Noida Authority built the 130-metre road but stopped at Sirsa roundabout, just 500 m ahead of the EPE. Likewise, Yamuna Authority’s 120-metre road ends in Rampur Majra village. The 3-km stretch in between remains unmotorable,” he said.
