Mangaluru: The seventh additional district and sessions court sentenced a 64-year-old man to five years in jail for the sexual harassment of a minor. Dakshina Kannada SP Arun K stated that in a case registered at Bellare police station in 2020 under sections 354(A1) and 506 of the IPC, and Section 8 of Pocso Act, Abdulla, a resident of Kudmaru in Kadaba, has been convicted. Following a trial at the court, where the charges were proven, Judge Sumangala Chakalabbi pronounced the accused guilty. The judge sentenced him to five years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 35,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months of simple imprisonment. The then investigating officer and Sullia circle inspector, Naveen Chandra Jogi, gathered the evidence and filed the chargesheet before the court. Public prosecutor Pushparaj presented a strong and effective argument on behalf of the state, the SP added.
