At least two people were killed and four others wounded in overnight Ukrainian attacks on annexed Crimea, local authorities said late Thursday, while an industrial facility was later targeted in Russia’s Perm region amid the airstrikes.
Sergei Aksyonov, the Kremlin-appointed head of Crimea, said three people, including a child, were wounded in a fatal attack on the peninsula’s Simferopol district. Aksyonov added that a separate attack elsewhere in the region injured one person.
In Russia, Perm region Governor Dmitry Makhonin said Friday morning that air defense systems downed 16 Ukrainian drones during an air attack, leaving one man injured.
Makhonin also said that an industrial facility was damaged in an overnight drone attack, though he provided no further details. No injuries occurred at the site, he said.
Unconfirmed reports suggested a Lukoil-operated oil refinery was targeted, with social media images purportedly showing smoke rising above the facility Friday morning following the drone attack.
Located around 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) from the Ukrainian border, the refinery processed around 12.6 million tons of oil in 2024, according to Reuters. Ukraine has previously attacked the facility.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said it intercepted 325 Ukrainian drones across Russia and annexed Crimea between Thursday night and Friday morning.
