New Delhi: Two motorbike-borne men snatched a bag of gold jewellery, suspected to be worth about Rs 50 lakh, from a jewellery firm employee at the red light of the Simon Bolivar Marg-Sardar Patel Marg junction in central Delhi Tuesday.A hunt is on to catch them. Police said the 45-year-old employee reported the snatching at Chanakyapuri police station. The complainant told police he was carrying the jewellery bag from Karol Bagh in central Delhi towards Vasant Kunj in southwest Delhi on his scooter.A senior police officer said the jewellery was to be shown to a prospective customer. While the employee was waiting at the traffic light, two men riding a motorcycle allegedly approached his scooter and snatched the bag containing the jewellery and fled.Multiple police teams have been formed to identify and trace the suspects and recover the stolen jewellery.Investigators are examining CCTV camera footage from the junction and the surrounding roads to track the movement of the accused before and after the incident.Eyewitnesses are also being questioned as part of the probe.Police are working to ascertain whether the accused had followed the complainant from Karol Bagh or targeted him after spotting the bag.
