Kanpur: A proposal is being prepared to develop wetlands at three locations for treating drains identified during a drone survey.The proposal, being drafted with the assistance of Urban and Rural Jal Nigam, will be submitted to the State Clean Ganga Mission and the National Mission for Clean Ganga for approval.The decision was taken during the monthly meeting of District Ganga Committee held at the new auditorium at Sarsaiya Ghat on Thursday. The meeting, chaired by district magistrate and committee chairman Jitendra Pratap Singh, reviewed the status of tapping and treatment of rural drains identified through a drone survey conducted by the NMCG.The district panchayat raj officer said the three sites have been identified. A draft of the District Ganga Plan was also presented. The final draft of the District Ganga Plan will be sent to the NMCG for approval and implementation.Singh directed the departments to work in coordination on Ganga conservation schemes and ensure that all works were completed within the stipulated timelines.The DM expressed displeasure over the absence of officials of the municipal corporation despite prior notice. He directed to issue a show-cause notice to the additional municipal commissioner and send a letter regarding the matter to the municipal commissioner. He also directed officials to complete pending works of Ganga Aarti and other arrangements at Atal Ghat.The chief development officer, divisional forest officer, district project officer (District Ganga Committee), committee members and officials of concerned departments attended the meeting.
