Greater Noida: Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) has inaugurated a Centre of Excellence on AI, bringing together students, faculty and industry experts for hands-on learning and development of AI-based solutions.
The centre was inaugurated in the presence of 400+ participants, primarily students and faculty members, and is built around the theme “Learn. Build. Deploy. Innovate.”
The initiative aims to give students practical exposure to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, moving beyond classroom-based learning to project development and deployment. As part of the launch programme, participants worked through modules covering AI fundamentals, generative AI, Google AI Studio, Google Antigravity and Google Cloud resources, followed by live project development and deployment.
Students worked on real-world problem statements across areas including MedTech, FinTech, EdTech and open innovation, developing AI-powered applications, automation tools and prototypes.
The programme brought together advisory board members Neeraj Gehani, Global Product Director, dunnhumby; Varoon Govil, Executive Director, MSCI Inc.; and Dr Saumendra Mohanty, Consultant, ValueFirst, a Tanla company.
The projects developed by participants included solutions for areas such as personalised stock and mutual fund management, personal health and care, demonstrating applications of AI beyond experimentation.
“Ideas are only the beginning of innovation. What matters is the ability to take an idea, test it, build it and create something that can address a real problem,” said Dr Prabina Rajib, Director, BIMTECH.
She said the Centre of Excellence on AI would strengthen the institute’s focus on technology-driven and experiential learning and help students and the wider academic community build capabilities for an increasingly AI-driven workplace.
The event also featured a showcase of student projects, with teams recognised for innovation, impact and technical execution. Wroom Wroom comprising Kartik Saxena, Kritika Digari, Kumari Shachi and Bhavna Mittal secured the first position. LOSER CORE, represented by Bhavya Rawat, finished second, while CARPIEDEM, comprising Sakshi Jaiswal, Ruchi Yadav, Rishita Agarwal, Surabhi Singh and Ranjan Kumar Singh, secured third place.
The institute said the centre will further support workshops, hackathons, research, industry collaborations and student-led projects, with the aim of connecting management education with emerging technologies and real-world applications.
