Gorakhpur: A 16-year-old Class 10 student from Gorakhpur has gone missing after reportedly visiting the Rapti river with two friends on Tuesday afternoon.While the friends claimed that he drowned in the river, the family has alleged foul play and accused them of murdering him and disposing of the body.Alleging murder, angry residents blocked the main road near Pathra, disrupting traffic for nearly six hours. Senior officials, including SDM Sadar and CO Cantt, reached the spot to pacify protesters. The blockade was lifted around 9 pm.SP City Nimish Patil said an FIR has been registered against the two minor accused on a complaint filed by the boy’s mother, Subhavati Devi. Search operations in the Rapti river are continuing.The missing teenager, a resident of Chhotka Pathra in the Ramgarhtal area, left home around 3.30 pm with two classmates who arrived on a scooter. The two boys later informed his family that he had drowned while bathing in the river. Police, along with SDRF teams, launched a search operation, but no trace of the teenager had been found till late Wednesday.His slippers were recovered from the riverbank, while his clothes and mobile phone were later found in Amrutani, raising further questions about the circumstances of his disappearance.Family members claim the boy had a history of disputes with the two friends, including altercations three months ago.
