Nagpur: Amid allegations that Nagpur Flying Club’s (NFC) Deputy Chief Flying Instructor (Dy CFI) continued flying despite being declared medically unfit, the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the club administration to produce the official’s flying log records for the four months up to February 2026.A division bench of Justices Anil Kilor and Rajnish Vyas also sought the state govt’s response within a week to an application seeking the Dy CFI’s removal from the state-supported aviation training institute. The application was filed by advocate Shriniwas Deshpande, an NFC alumnus, in an ongoing PIL concerning the functioning of the flying club. It seeks directions to the divisional commissioner, ex-officio chairman of NFC, to terminate the Dy CFI’s services from “any post of temporary or honorary nature”.The plea alleges that his continuation despite medical restrictions compromised flying training and raised safety concerns for cadets. It cites communications from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stating that he had been declared medically unfit for flying activities and was subsequently permitted to function only as a “line pilot”, without authorisation to impart flying lessons. The application also alleges operational deficiencies at NFC, including the prolonged grounding of two training aircraft and complaints from cadets. It claims Mahajyoti had sought the withdrawal of ₹7 crore deposited for pilot training of 20 students from backward and tribal communities due to the institute’s functioning, but only ₹50 lakh has been refunded so far.
