Prayagraj: Seven women with complex pelvic floor and urogynecological disorders underwent advanced surgeries at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital on Wednesday as more than 200 surgeons and doctors received hands-on exposure to modern surgical techniques during a urogynecology workshop. The workshop, organised by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Motilal Nehru Medical College in association with the Indian Menopause Society and Allahabad Menopause Society, focused on the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction and urogynecological conditions.Experts demonstrated the procedures through live surgeries, with participants receiving step-by-step technical guidance through live communication from the operation theatre. The surgeries were performed on women suffering from conditions including uterine prolapse, vault prolapse, cystocele, rectocele, enterocele and cervical elongation. The workshop aimed to provide doctors with practical exposure to complex surgeries while simultaneously improving access to advanced treatment for patients. Department head Dr Amrita Chaurasia said women often ignore problems such as pelvic organ prolapse for years due to embarrassment, despite effective treatment being available.
