Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay high court has issued a 12-point timeline for filling teaching vacancies in private schools, directing managements to begin the recruitment process at least three months before a teacher retires and first verify if a suitable surplus teacher is available.
A division bench of Justices Jitendra Jain and Kishore Sant said the guidelines were necessary “to avoid such situations in future and to affix accountability.” Under the framework, school managements must inform the education officer in writing about impending retirements and subject-wise vacancy requirements. Within two weeks, the education officer must either provide details of available surplus teachers or state in writing that none are available.
The HC said the advertisement must remain open for at least 15 days, after which the management should hold interviews, publish the final selection list and submit the appointment approval proposal within two weeks.
