Patna: Siwan SP Puran Kumar Jha and Bhojpur SP Raj have been shifted amid controversies surrounding the two districts, as the Bihar govt on Tuesday transferred 18 IPS officers in a major police reshuffle. While Jha has been kept on the waiting list, Raj has been posted as SP, Rohtas.Jha’s transfer follows an incident during a student protest in Siwan in which an AK-47 was fired. Bharat Soni, a 2019-batch IPS officer earlier posted in Nalanda, has been appointed the new SP of Siwan. The change follows the earlier transfer of district magistrate Vivek Ranjan Maitreya, who is also awaiting a new posting.In Bhojpur, Raj had been in the spotlight over the Bharat Tiwari encounter case after the deceased’s brother alleged that the SP had threatened him with the filing of a case. Manoj Kumar Meena has been appointed district magistrate, replacing Tanay Sultania. Awadhesh Dixit has been given charge as Bhojpur SP.The reshuffle also brings changes at the DIG level. Anil Kumar, a 2010-batch IPS officer earlier serving as DIG, Finance and Technical Services, has been appointed DIG, prohibition of liquor and ANTF. Mrityunjay Kumar Chaudhary, earlier DIG, Vigilance Investigation Bureau, has been posted as DIG, civil security.Rajiv Ranjan-II, a 2012-batch IPS officer earlier posted as DIG, Human Rights, has been appointed DIG, Special Vigilance Unit. Ajay Kumar Pandey, formerly DIG, prohibition and ANTF, has been shifted as DIG, Finance and Technical Services.Amir Javed, earlier posted as DIG, Vulnerable Classes and Women’s Cell, Crime Investigation Department, has been appointed DIG, Vigilance Investigation Bureau. Mithilesh Kumar, who was serving as SP, EOU, has been appointed commandant, BSAP-9, Jamalpur.Sushil Kumar, a 2012-batch IPS officer and DIG, legal affairs and rules, has been given additional charge as DIG, Human Rights. Hriday Kant has been made SP, Nalanda, while Rajesh Kumar has been appointed SP, ANTF, prohibition. Manish Kumar has been posted as SP, SVU.Vineet Kumar, SSP, Saran, has been appointed SP, Anti-Terrorism Squad. Ramanand Kumar Kaushal, SP (CID), has been shifted as SP, SVU. Roushan Kumar, who was serving as SP, Rohtas, has been appointed SSP, Saran.Garima, a 2022-batch IPS officer and Commandant, BSAP-9, Jamalpur, has been appointed SP, Vulnerable Classes and Women’s Cell, Crime Investigation Department.The police reshuffle comes a day after the Bihar govt transferred 17 district magistrates.
