Mangaluru: Marking 25 years in the music industry, playback singer and All India Radio top grade artiste Sangeetha Balachandra said on Tuesday that she will attempt to enter the Golden Book of World Records by singing Dasarapadas continuously for 25 hours.Titled ‘Panchavimshati’, the musical marathon will begin at 6.30am on Aug 23 and conclude at 7.30am on Aug 24 at Sri Puttige Narasimha Auditorium, near Sri Krishna Mutt in Udupi.During the 1,500 minute performance, Balachandra will render 250 Dasarapadas featuring entirely new compositions. Two teams of accompanying artistes will provide live instrumental support on the keyboard, rhythm pad, flute and tabla. The organisers claim it will be the country’s first continuous 25-hour Dasarapada singing marathon by a woman artiste.Sangeetha, a playback and light music singer has a strong backfround of Carnatic Classical music. She received advanced training in classical music from Vidwan SG Parameshwar Bhat and Vidwan Varijakshi R Bhat. She has been singing across genres, media and recordings in various languages. She claims to have more than 2,500 concerts to her credit, and has sung for more than 1,000 audio recordings in different genres. She has won several awards and recognitions.
