KOLKATA: One person was killed and 19 others were injured after a building collapsed in Kolkata’s Jorabagan area, officials said on Tuesday.The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Disaster Management Group (DMG) teams launched rescue operations following the collapse and worked to evacuate those trapped under the debris.A woman was reportedly evacuating the building after noticing that it had started shaking.However, the structure collapsed before she could reach a safe spot.Her husband and two sons managed to escape the building in time.Rescue teams continued operations at the site to ensure that no one remained trapped under the debris.Officials were assessing the condition of the building and the circumstances that led to the collapse.
