Patna: Against the backdrop of recent Gen-Z and student-led demonstrations across Bihar, chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday inaugurated the Vidyarthi Sahyog Portal to provide time-bound redressal of students’ grievances. The portal was launched at a programme in the auditorium of J D Women’s College in Patna.Addressing students, Choudhary described the portal as an important initiative for resolving academic, hostel-related and other problems faced by students, while also receiving their suggestions. He said the service would be free of cost and confidential. Information linked to the Vidyarthi Sahyog Camp will also be available through helpline number 1100.The chief minister said complaints could be registered online on the portal at any time. Disposal would be ensured within 30 days of registration, and applicants would receive written communication on the action taken. He added that if action on a complaint is not initiated within 10 days, an automatic notice from the Chief Minister’s Office would be issued on the 11th day, with resolution assured within a maximum of 30 days.Choudhary announced that special camps would be held in educational institutions on the fourth Tuesday of every month, allowing students to directly present grievances and suggestions. He said the Vidyarthi Sahyog Abhiyan would be launched in all schools and hostels of Bihar from Aug 25.During the event, the chief minister interacted with girl students of J D Women’s College and sought details about their educational activities and difficulties. He said the state govt’s aim was to make quality education available within Bihar, reducing students’ compulsion to leave the state for better studies. He said for decades after Independence, govt degree colleges remained limited, but the state was expanding higher education through 211 new degree colleges and degree course approval in 342 B Ed colleges to strengthen access and support.
