Mysuru: MCC decided to crack the whip against visual pollution in the city. Henceforth, if any publicity material is not removed beyond the stipulated time, MCC will impose a fine, both on those who installed the banner and the printer.MCC has also decided to clear all footpath encroachments and illegal vendors on the Dasara procession route before the state festival. The zonal officers have been asked to start imposing fines on the repeat offenders who violate MCC instructions in this regard.A decision in this regard was taken in the monthly meeting of MCC which was chaired by regional commissioner Nitesh Patil, who is also the administrator of the civic body.MCC commissioner MK Savitha briefed the meeting in detail about the ongoing footpath encroachment drive.Both the officials sought an explanation from the officials over the delay in the removal of the banner across the city.Patil reviewed the footpath eviction drive in all the zones. He also advised the officials to ensure that debris is removed immediately and footpaths are repaired.Patil directed MCC officials to advise the roadside vendors to move to the 52 designated vending zones across the city.Savitha advised the officials to prepare the encroachment-vulnerable points as part of the eviction drive and map them and take up the eviction drive.In the meeting, it was also decided to issue notices to commercial buildings which lack the dedicated parking spaces as mentioned in the building by-laws.
