Mangaluru: Punjalakatte police have arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly robbing his 82-year-old grandmother’s two gold bangles at Uddada Gudde in Thenkakajekaru village, Bantwal taluk.According to a complaint filed by Sadiq, his mother, Avvamma, was alone at home on Aug 14 when a masked man entered the house. The intruder allegedly forcibly removed the two gold bangles that she was wearing, and fled the spot. The bangles, weighing around 40 grams, are estimated to be worth Rs 5 lakh.Avvamma sustained injuries during the incident, police said. Based on Sadiq’s complaint, Punjalakatte police registered a case under BNS section 309(6).During the investigation, police arrested Avvamma’s grandson, Shabeer, a resident of Thenkakajekaru, on Sunday. Both gold bangles were recovered. He will be produced before the jurisdictional court after questioning.The operation was conducted under the supervision of Belthangady DySP Rohini CK. The team included Belthangady Rural CPI Ravi BS, Punjalakatte PSI Rajesh KV, ASI Bennichan and other personnel.
