Mysuru: Buddha Super Team from Rampura in Chamarajanagar and Chamundi Girls Team from Hedathale Gram Panchayat in Nanjangud emerged champions in the men’s volleyball and women’s throwball competitions respectively at the Karnataka Divisional Matches of the 18th edition of Isha Gramotsavam 2026 held in Mysuru.Organised by Isha Outreach at Jagadish Prasad Playground in Jayalakshmipuram, the event saw 20 men’s volleyball teams and 12 women’s throwball teams, with more than 300 rural players from across Karnataka participating.Buddha Super Team won the men’s volleyball title, while Chamundi Boys Team from Kadakola, Mysuru, finished runners-up. Appu Boys Team from Mastenahalli, Chikkaballapur, secured third place and MRJ Brothers from Marjenahalli, Kolar, finished fourth.In women’s throwball, Chamundi Girls Team emerged champions. CSA Team from Baliganahalli gram panchayat, Chikkaballapur, finished runners-up, while Kodachadri Team from M Guddekoppa gram panchayat, Shivamogga, and Jai Shree Ram Team from Chikkanerale gram panchayat, Bettadapura, secured third and fourth places respectively.The divisional champions received Rs 15,000 each, runners-up Rs 10,000, while third- and fourth-placed teams received Rs 6,000 and Rs 4,000 respectively. The winning teams will represent Karnataka at the Grand Finale of Isha Gramotsavam from Sept 4 to 6 at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore. Grand Finale champions will receive Rs 5 lakh each and runners-up Rs 3 lakh.Speaking on the occasion, Chamaraja MLA K Harishgowda said, “Being a sportsman myself, I understand the significance of it in everyday life and overall well-being of the society.”Former Indian cricketer Javagal Srinath, Karnataka’s first Grandmaster MS Thejkumar and Khelo India executive Amar Jyothi attended the closing and prize distribution ceremony.
