Bengaluru: Around 20 tonnes of waste was cleared from Vidhana Soudha and surrounding areas following Independence Day celebrations on Aug 15, with Bengaluru Central City Corporation deploying 35 civic workers and 10 auto-tippers for the clean-up.Thousands of people gathered at Vidhana Soudha as part of habba Saturday, prompting the civic body to deploy additional teams to clear waste generated during the event.Civic workers and auto-tipper teams, deployed under the leadership of officials from Central City Corporation and Shivajinagar zone, worked through Saturday and continued operations Sunday morning. Each auto-tipper made four rounds, with the clean-up continuing until late Saturday night.The corporation said waste, including discarded paper plates, tea and coffee cups, water bottles, plastic and other litter, was cleared from inside Vidhana Soudha, its steps, the area in front of the building and surrounding areas.Greater Bengaluru development minister Krishna Byre Gowda appreciated the efforts of BCCC commissioner Jagadeesha G and the officials and staff involved in the clean-up.
