Reflecting its deep-rooted tradition of nationalism and patriotism since 1899, Hindu College celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great zeal and fervour. The celebrations reflected the College’s enduring commitment to igniting the spirit of the nation among its youth and citizens.The day commenced with the solemn flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the recitation of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem. Faculty members, students, non-teaching staff, frontline workers, NSS volunteers, and NCC cadets of the Navy and Army wings participated with pride. On this occasion, the entire gathering took a collective pledge for Nasha Mukt Bharat, reaffirming their commitment to building a drug-free and self-reliant India.A grand Tiranga Rally was organised on the campus, led by teachers and joined enthusiastically by students, staff and volunteers. The rally resonated with patriotic slogans and the colours of the Tricolour, symbolising unity, diversity and national pride. On the eve of Independence Day celebrations, teachers and NSS volunteers of Hindu College participated in the commemoration of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day at the Multipurpose Hall, Sports Complex, University of Delhi. The event was held on the theme ‘The Story of India’s Partition (1947)’.The programme was attended by C.P. Radhakrishnan, Vice President of India, as the Chief Guest. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Raghuvendra Tanwar, Chairman, Indian Council of Historical Research. The event was also attended by Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi. The commemoration paid tribute to the countless lives affected by the Partition and underscored the importance of remembering our history to strengthen national unity. The celebrations concluded with the distribution of sweets to everyone present, marking the spirit of joy, togetherness and patriotism that defines Independence Day.
