By: Somdutt tripathiBHILWARA: A dispute over sitting on a chair during an Independence Day function at a govt school in Bhakhaliya village of Mandal subdivision in Bhilwara district has prompted the education department to order an inquiry after a video of the incident went viral on social media.The video shows some people sitting on chairs placed on the stage, while others appear to ask them to vacate the seats. The incident has been described on social media as a dispute over a Dalit person sitting on a chair.District education officer (Elementary) Rameshwar Jingar said the incident was the result of a minor dispute and that the situation was brought under control after the school principal intervened.“There was an uproar for some time due to a mutual dispute. The matter was resolved after the principal intervened and the Independence Day programme was held without disruption,” Jingar said.Jingar said Mandal block education officer Asha Ladda had been instructed to conduct an inquiry and a special committee had been formed. The committee will visit the school Monday and investigate the incident. Action will be taken if anyone is found guilty, he said.Bagor police station SHO Bacchharaj Chaudhary said police had received information about the incident and a head constable had reached the school. However, it was a minor altercation and no complaint had been lodged with the police, he said.
