Lucknow: A professor and former vice-chancellor of a private university has accused a builder company, its associates and officials of multiple banks of orchestrating a ₹2.11-crore fraud linked to the purchase of two flats in Lucknow. An FIR in this connection has been registered at Kaiserbagh police station. The victim, Prof Mirza, a resident of Lalbagh, in his complaint alleged that after booking two flats in Dec 2023 for ₹52.5 lakh and ₹55 lakh, builder representatives, in connivance with officials of several financial institutions, arranged multiple loans in his name without disclosing the transactions.According to the complaint, loans worth ₹94.3 lakh were obtained through multiple banks. He alleged he was told that unless nearly 80% of the property cost was paid, around ₹22 lakh already deposited towards registration and related expenses would be forfeited. The professor alleged the builder later assured him that the earlier loans were temporary and would be cleared after a home loan was sanctioned. He alleged that he was made to sign fresh loan documents and an allotment letter showing the flats’ value at ₹61 lakh, higher than the originally quoted prices.A key allegation relates to the sanction of an additional ₹1.17-crore home loan by a govt bank. Mirza claimed the loan was approved despite substantial existing liabilities in his name and that the amount was later transferred to the builder through demand drafts at the time of registration. He further alleged that the builder initially serviced some EMIs but later stopped, leaving him to face recovery notices from multiple lenders. Despite informing the banks about the alleged fraud through emails, he said demand notices continued. He also alleged that a legal notice from a bank was pasted on his flat in June 2025 without prior intimation.Kaiserbagh Inspector Anjani Kumar Mishra said the FIR was registered on the directions of senior officers and the allegations, financial transactions and role of all persons named in the complaint are being investigated.
