New Delhi: Delhiites witnessed sultry weather conditions as rain eluded the city. No significant respite is expected in the next few days. The city may receive light to very light rain, but no colour-coded warning has been issued.The maximum temperature was recorded at 34.4 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal Sunday. The heat index remained high, causing discomfort. It was 40 degrees Celsius at 11.30 am and rose further to 42.7 degrees Celsius at 2.30 pm. The ‘feels-like’ temperature settled at 45.1 degrees Celsius at 2.30 pm a day earlier.The day temperature is predicted to stay between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius over the next few days. “No significant change in maximum temperatures is expected during the next seven days,” IMD said.In Aug so far, Safdarjung, the city’s base station, has logged 227.2 mm of rainfall as against the month’s normal of 233.1 mm.The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal. It was 26 degrees Celsius Saturday. It is likely to stay between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius Monday and around 23-25 degrees Celsius Tuesday.Delhi’s air quality continued to remain in satisfactory category with an AQI of 92. In Aug so far, the capital has seen 15 satisfactory days and one moderate day.
