Chennai: A 15-year-old Class XI student died of electrocution at his home in Tiruvallur after he came into contact with an electrical wire while sleeping after plugging in a friend’s laptop to charge on Saturday.The deceased was identified as Srinivasan, the eldest son of Senthil, a painter, and Kavitha, residents of Karkuzhali Road of Tiruvallur. Srinivasan was studying Class XI at a government higher secondary school in Manavalanagar.Police said Srinivasan had brought home a friend’s laptop and was playing games on it on Saturday. When the battery ran low, he plugged the laptop in for charging and later fell asleep. While he was asleep, Srinivasan reportedly came into contact with an electrical wire and suffered an electric shock.His family members, with the help of neighbours, rushed him to the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvallur, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Tiruvallur Town police have registered a case and are investigating the case.
