NOIDA: Two motorcycle-borne men allegedly robbed a cyber cafe in Malkpur village, under the Surajpur police station area, of Rs 80,000 after threatening the attendant with a pistol. The accused, who had covered their faces, entered the cafe and fled with the cash after warning the victim not to raise the alarm.According to police, the cafe is run by Mohit, a resident of Aligarh, who lives in rented accommodation in Malkpur. On Thursday, Mohit had left the cafe to have lunch at his room. At the time, another man, identified as Usman, was sitting at the cafe.Around the same time, two men arrived at the cafe on a motorcycle. CCTV footage of the incident and the suspects’ movements has also surfaced. One of the accused entered the cafe, pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Usman. The other allegedly entered the cabin, opened a rack and took Rs 80,000 kept inside.As the two suspects fled, Usman came outside and tried to raise the alarm. However, one of the accused reportedly returned to the cafe and threatened to shoot him if he made any noise until they had escaped. Fearing for his life, Usman remained silent until the robbers left the area.He then raised the alarm and informed the police. A police team reached the spot and launched an investigation. A forensic team also examined the crime scene and collected evidence.A senior officer said Mohit also provides services related to depositing money into customers’ bank accounts. Police have learnt that he had withdrawn Rs 80,000 from a bank before bringing the cash to the cyber cafe.Investigators are now examining whether the robbers had followed Mohit from the bank after learning about the cash withdrawal. Police are also scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects and establish their route.Senior police officials have formed four teams to identify and arrest the accused. Investigators are also questioning the victim and examining CCTV footage and other available evidence to determine whether the robbery was planned in advance.
