Pune: Dighi police on Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting his neighbour’s six-year-old son. The police have charged him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. The boy’s father lodged a complaint with the police.An officer from the Dighi police said the accused used to lure the boy to his house, where he allegedly sexually assaulted him. When the boy tried to raise an alarm, the accused gagged him and threatened to kill him if he told his parents about the incidents. “The accused sexually assaulted the boy in July and Aug. When the boy informed his father, the father reprimanded the accused. The accused then threatened the complainant with dire consequences if he lodged a police complaint,” the officer said.The officer said the boy’s father approached the police on Wednesday and lodged a complaint. “We have arrested the youth. Our investigation is underway,” he said.
