Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court has asked JDA to fix responsibility for 583 encroachments identified in Prithviraj Nagar and explain why preventive action was not taken to stop the structures from coming up.A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Chandra Shekhar Thursday directed authorities to paste information about the PIL concerning the encroachments at all 583 sites, so that occupants are made aware of the pending proceedings.JDA counsel Amit Kuri informed court that 583 encroachments had been identified either beneath overhead electric wires or on public roads. “Court has also directed deputy commissioners of JDA Zones 18 and 19 and enforcement officers of Zones 18 and 19 to file an affidavit on Sept 1 and explain the action taken in their respective areas to remove encroachments and also who is responsible for these encroachments,” Kuri told TOI.The latest directions follow the court’s earlier order seeking details of encroachments beneath high-tension power lines in Prithviraj Nagar. Following court intervention, JDA conducted a survey and initiated action against encroachments.JDA subsequently identified structures along stretches between Heerapura Powerhouse and Narayan Vihar and between Heerapura Powerhouse and Gajsinghpura, and issued notices to occupants.At Thursday’s hearing, the bench sought details beyond identification of encroachments, including who allowed structures to come up and why timely enforcement action was not taken.The court also directed JDA to explain enforcement action taken after encroachments were identified.
