Srinagar, Aug 13: Government buildings across Jammu and Kashmir have been illuminated in the colours of the Tricolour ahead of Independence Day, adding a festive atmosphere to cities and towns across the Union Territory.
With Independence Day to be celebrated on August 15, government offices, administrative complexes and other public buildings have been lit up as part of the celebrations. The colourful illumination has made the buildings stand out after sunset and added a sense of pride and excitement among residents.
The lighting has also brought a special character to the celebrations, with the Tricolour becoming a prominent sight across several areas.
“The illumination makes the Independence Day celebrations feel more special. It gives people a sense of pride and brings the spirit of the national festival closer to everyone,” Bashir Ahmad a local resident of Lal Chowk said.
Another resident said the decorated government buildings have created a positive atmosphere in the evenings.
“It is good to see public buildings illuminated for the occasion. Families can see the Tricolour colours across the city, and it creates a feeling of happiness and togetherness,” the resident said.
The initiative has added a visual dimension to the celebrations, with the illuminated buildings reflecting the national colours and drawing attention from people passing through the areas.
For many residents, the decorations are also a reminder of the importance of Independence Day and the values associated with the national celebration.
“The Tricolour represents our freedom and our shared identity. Seeing government buildings lit up in its colours gives the occasion a special feeling,” Firdous Ahmad a government employee said.
The illumination is expected to remain a major attraction during the Independence Day period. As preparations continue for August 15, the decorated public spaces are contributing to a festive environment across J&K.
The celebrations will include official ceremonies and public programmes at different locations. The illuminated government buildings have already added colour to the build-up to the national festival, making the days leading up to Independence Day brighter and more festive for residents across J&K.
