Balasore: Tension prevailed at Satyanarayan Government Nodal High School in Rasalpur village on Wednesday after a student was allegedly attacked and seriously injured by a stray dog on the school premises.The incident took place on Tuesday when Pabitra Kumar Rana, a Class III student, was reportedly heading towards the school washroom during the break. A stray dog allegedly entered the school campus and attacked him. Rana suffered injury on his right thumb and other parts of the body.Hearing the student’s scream, other students rushed to the spot and managed to drive the dog away. The injured student was initially taken to Balasore DHH. But as his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.The incident triggered resentment among local residents and members of the school management committee. On Wednesday, they locked the school gate and held a protest, demanding immediate measures to prevent stray dogs from entering the school premises.Balasore DEO Basanta Kumar Nayak said necessary measures will be taken to ensure that stray dogs do not enter the school premises.
