Hyderabad: Amid rising unease in its Telangana unit, the BJP top leadership is stepping in to de-escalate the growing friction between two of its key MPs — Bandi Sanjay and Eatala Rajender. What began as an undercurrent of tension has now prompted a quiet but firm intervention by senior party leaders, who are keen to prevent any further escalation during a politically sensitive period.According to party sources, both MPs are likely to be spoken to during the ongoing parliamentary session in Delhi, where they are currently attending meetings. The leadership intends to deliver a clear and identical message to both sides: Resolve internal differences and focus on the party’s broader agenda in Telangana. The flashpoint appears to have been Eatala’s public remarks from his residence in Shamirpet recently, which drew the attention of the party’s top brass. The comments were viewed as a veiled critique of internal functioning and have since stirred speculation about growing discontent. BJP’s Telangana affairs in-charge, Abhay Patil, is understood to have closely monitored the developments and updated the leadership accordingly.Despite the buzz, sources close to Eatala rejected suggestions that he is considering quitting the party or floating a new political outfit. “Some are deliberately floating this narrative. Eatala only raised concerns related to developments in Huzurabad. If he had other intentions, would he have participated in the BJP MPs’ meeting with metro rail officials?” a close aide pointed out.Eatala is also expected to seek an audience with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the session — a customary interaction for BJP MPs, but significant given the current context, a source said.On the other hand, Sanjay has chosen to remain silent, instructing his supporters not to respond publicly to Eatala’s remarks. Sources say a detailed list of political positions held by Eatala’s supporters in Karimnagar district has been forwarded to the party leadership, in what can be seen as a possible attempt to counter Eatala’s claims of being sidelined. The BJP, eyeing a major revival in Telangana, is keen to prevent factionalism from undermining its strategy ahead of crucial electoral cycles, political analysts said.
