Sasaram: The Bihar Police CID on Tuesday began an investigation into the killing of a worker in Rohtas with a team led by DIG Jayant Kant visiting Jogia and Milki Manihari villages under Dinara police station and meeting the bereaved family.Chandeshwar Chaudhary was allegedly shot dead on Aug 5 by farmer Ajit Tiwari following a dispute over Chaudhary leaving Tiwari and starting work for another landowner. Tiwari was later arrested from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the killing.The killing was followed by violence in the village with houses and vehicles allegedly set on fire and tractors and harvesters belonging to Tiwari damaged or torched. The violence has since heightened tensions, prompting increased police deployment.A police team has been camping at Tiwari’s house, while his family members have left the village following the violence. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation amid fears of further clashes.Opposition neta Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and CPI(ML) MLA Arun Kumar visited the deceased’s family and demanded stringent action against those responsible. Supporters of the accused from neighbouring Buxar and Bhojpur districts also visited the village, demanding action against those allegedly involved in setting fire to the properties and vehicles belonging to Tiwari and his family.The CID team visited the area to independently examine the circumstances surrounding the killing and subsequent violence. The probe is also looking into events leading up to the shooting, including Chaudhary’s decision to change employers, and the sequence of events that followed.DIG Jayant Kant said the CID was conducting its own investigation and examining all aspects of the case. Police said adequate security measures had been put in place to prevent any further untoward incident.
