Rohtak: Former MP and Congress functionary Brijendra Singh on Tuesday said he would begin the next phase of his political outreach with programmes at the assembly level. Under the programme, public outreach will be carried out across all 90 assembly constituencies of Haryana. Brijendra said gratitude tours were currently being conducted across all districts, during which workers and supporters who stood by him during the Sadbhavna Yatra are being thanked. Programmes have already been held in Rohtak, Panipat and Faridabad. A programme will be held in Hisar on Aug 20, which will be attended by workers from across the state.Former Hisar MP Brijendra was speaking to journalists on Tuesday here on Tuesday. On the ongoing deadlock in Parliament, Brijendra said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah should answer questions on the issue. He said that so far, neither the PM nor the home minister had made any statement in that regard.He also said that the Union home minister should provide information about the lathi charge on students at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on July 20. According to Brijendra, Delhi police and CRPF personnel were present at the spot that day, and both reported to the Union home ministry. Therefore, he said, the direct question being asked to the home minister is whether the incident happened without his knowledge or whether it took place on his instructions.Speaking about Haryana, Brijendra said unemployment is the biggest issue in the state and that all other related issues stem from it. He alleged that the education system is being weakened. “Government schools are being shut down in the state, while the government has stopped grants to state universities and universities are now being run with the help of loans,” he said.On the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Haryana, Brijendra said the first phase had ended and the second phase would be important. He said that people would start receiving notices and therefore they needed to remain alert.Responding to another question, Brijendra claimed that there was factionalism within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He referred to a recent programme held in Bawal, where Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was present, but the local MLA and another Union minister were absent.Brijendra also responded to statements being made by Congress MLA from the Sirsa assembly constituency, Gokul Setia. He said that he did not know why Setia was making such statements, adding that he had met him only once.
