Jaipur: In a move to address growing concerns over the deteriorating condition of Dravyavati River, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) Tuesday ordered a comprehensive, stretch-wise inspection of ongoing works being undertaken by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) along the waterway.The inspection slated for Wednesday will encompass the river project’s 47.5-km stretch, from Majar Dam near Vidyadhar Nagar to Dhundh River near Kanota.The decision follows a report published by TOI on Aug 9, titled ‘Waste, foul odour return to haunt Dravyavati riverfront’, which highlighted the alarming status of the river, from inadequate sewage treatment plants (STPs) to environmental concerns affecting nearby neighbourhoods.To effectively oversee the inspection, the JDA has appointed 11 engineers, each tasked with monitoring separate segments of the river project. JDA director of engineering, Ajay Garg, confirmed that all assigned engineers will scrutinize activities conducted by TCS to ensure compliance and accountability.Amid scrutiny of financial aspects of the project, Garg claimed that all payments to TCS have been settled, with no outstanding dues currently pending.One of the executive engineers appointed for the inspection, Prashannata Arya, shared details of the forthcoming activity, saying that 11 teams will embark on site visits to assess the current state of the river and the condition of STPs. Thereafter, detailed reports would be prepared to evaluate ongoing works and address any deficiencies.The JDA Tuesday conducted an orientation workshop designed to brief engineers assigned to the inspection on the scope of the task and their specific roles in the evaluation process.JDA’s efforts at monitoring the Dravyavati River project is aimed at restoring the river’s health and enhancing the quality of life of those residing in its proximity.
