Guwahati: The Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) has announced a road and economic blockade against Arunachal Pradesh from Aug 12.The Mising students’ organisation called the blockade after 18 Assam villagers were injured in firing at Badati-Mingmang along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Monday.TMPK said the blockade would begin at 5 am and continue until those responsible, including those who allegedly opened fire, were identified, arrested and prosecuted.The organisation clarified that its agitation was not directed against any community or ordinary residents of Arunachal but against those responsible for the violence.Condemning the incident, TMPK said it endangered the safety and security of people living and working along the border. It demanded the immediate identification and arrest of those allegedly involved and their prosecution “in accordance with law”.The organisation also sought legal and departmental action against any Arunachal Pradesh Police personnel found to have been involved.TMPK described the blockade as a “democratic and peaceful movement for justice, security and accountability”.
