Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh unit of BJP on Tuesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of repeatedly disrupting Parliament, shifting demands and pushing misleading narratives instead of engaging in constructive debate.At a news conference at the party’s state headquarters, BJP state vice president Ashok Sangchoju alleged that the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha has tried to create chaos and derail proceedings through “political theatrics” and misinformation. He said Parliament’s dignity must be upheld, but claimed Gandhi’s approach is focused on disruption.Sangchoju said Gandhi first demanded the resignation of Union education minister and sought a discussion on NEET controversy. He claimed that even after govt agreed to a detailed debate and introduced stricter measures against exam paper leaks, Gandhi shifted his demand to seeking a statement from Union home minister Amit Shah on Jantar Mantar protests.Sangchoju said govt remains open to discussing all legitimate issues, and cited parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju’s statements that home minister is prepared to respond in House. He questioned why Gandhi continues to change demands instead of participating in the debate.On Jantar Mantar issue, Sangchoju urged Gandhi to place facts before the public and avoid what he called unverified allegations. He also challenged Gandhi to face a debate in Parliament, saying democratic discourse should be based on evidence.Sangchoju further accused Gandhi and Congress of opportunistic politics over student protests, alleging the party highlights demonstrations in Delhi while remaining silent on police action against student protesters in Congress-ruled states or those governed by its allies.Referring to reports of police action against protesting students in Jharkhand, including allegations of tear gas, water cannons and mistreatment of women protesters, he demanded an independent examination and accountability.BJP state vice-president Tarh Sopin was also present.
