Kanpur: Joint secretary, department of defence production, Garima Bhagat visited the Field Gun Factory (FGK), Advanced Weapon and Equipment India Ltd (AWEIL), Kanpur. During her visit, she was warmly greeted by KR Sinha, chief general manager (CGM) of FGK, in the presence of Umesh Singh, CMD/AWEIL.The visit aimed to assess FGK’s capabilities, progress, and contributions to the defence sector, particularly in the area of indigenisation of ordnance. Bhagat inspected various production sections and took note of the factory’s efforts in establishing new products like SRGM and IFG Recoil. She appreciated FGK’s commitment to the indigenisation of ordnance and its role in sustaining regular supplies of quality weapon ordnances to the defence forces. She emphasised the importance of self-reliance in defence production and encouraged FGK to continue its efforts in this direction.The visit is expected to further strengthen the department of defence production’s support for FGK’s initiatives and enhance the factory’s role in supporting the country’s defence forces. With its focus on indigenisation and innovation, FGK is poised to play an increasingly critical role in India’s defence preparedness.
