Ahmedabad: Gujarat govt has ordered an immediate probe into the death of a resident doctor at New Civil Hospital in Surat. Minister of state for health Praful Pansheriya has set up a high-level inquiry committee led jointly by the Civil Hospital dean and superintendent. The probe will be monitored by the additional director of medical education in Gandhinagar.Health minister has issued strict instructions that no individual found responsible will be spared under any circumstances. He emphasised that if the probe reveals instances of ragging, mental harassment, negligence, or any form of misconduct, stringent legal and administrative action will be taken against those involved.Authorities have been specifically directed to examine whether the doctor faced any harassment within the hostel or hospital premises, including possible ragging or undue pressure from individuals or the system. As part of the investigation, statements of fellow resident doctors and students present in the hostel are being recorded.Officials have been instructed to complete initial inquiries without delay. He also spoke to the deceased doctor’s father, offered condolences and assured a fair and transparent investigation.
