Mangaluru: An on-duty pointsman rescued a passenger who slipped while attempting to board a moving train at Surathkal railway station on Monday. The incident occurred around 12.12pm when the passenger attempted to board train No. 10107, Madgaon–Mangaluru Central MEMU Express, when it was leaving the platform. Pointsman Sandeep Naik noticed the passenger slipping towards the gap between the coach and the platform. He rushed to the spot and pulled the passenger to safety, averting a potentially fatal accident. The train resumed its journey at 12.16pm. Railway officials commended Naik’s alertness and presence of mind.
