Bengaluru: A long-pending Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) road connecting Kogilu Main Road and Sampigehalli has been delayed after authorities revised its alignment following litigation by property owners. Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-Smile) the agency executing the project, said work has begun on stretches where land is available.The proposed 18-metre-wide road, which residents say is crucial to easing traffic congestion in the rapidly north Bengaluru locality has remained in limbo despite a land acquisition notification issued by then BBMP in Jan 2025.An engineer from Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) told TOI the original alignment had to be abandoned after legal objections. “Even as the road was mapped under CDP, houses were built on surrounding revenue layouts. Residents went to court and the alignment had to be revised,” he said.The revised alignment has now been approved by Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) administrator. However, the engineer said acquisition process is still underway as affected property owners are being compensated through Transferable Development Rights (TDR). “The entire process may take another three to four months. Of the 2.8km, we have received 1.3km land already,” he added.B-Smile technical director BS Prahallad confirmed work on the CDP road has started, while executive engineer Savita Padamati said approval for the new alignment is awaited from BNCC.Saubhagya Baliarsingh, a resident of KPSC Layout who started an online petition seeking immediate construction of the road, claimed he is yet to see any work on the proposed stretch.“The population of Gastikempanahalli and surrounding areas has increased significantly. Several apartment projects have already come up. These roads will benefit residents of Garg Street, Gastikempanahalli, Kogilu, Prakruthi Nagar, Vidhana Soudha Layout, Jakkur and KPSC Layout,” he pointed out.Residents say they currently depend on Pooja Mahalaxmi Layout Main Road and Garg Street, both of which are narrow and in poor condition. They said the proposed road will improve connectivity to the upcoming Kogilu Metro station on Blue Line and the proposed Jakkur suburban railway station while reducing congestion on surrounding stretches.
