NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home in north Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar, with her family alleging that she was harassed for dowry and murdered by her husband and in-laws.The local Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) has initiated an inquiry into the case.The deceased, identified as Seema, lived with her husband, who is a vegetable vendor. The couple had been married for five years.According to police, Seema was found hanging inside her room Friday. Her family, who live in Agra, said they were informed that she had died by suicide.They rushed to Delhi, but by the time they arrived, the body had already been sent for post-mortem examination.Her sister-in-law, Shivani, alleged that Seema’s husband frequently pressured her to bring money from her parental home.She said the in-laws had recently purchased a car worth around Rs 12 lakh but continued to demand money from Seema’s family.Police said the cause of death will be determined after autopsy.
