Nagpur: Years of neglect and wear have left roads in Trisaran Nagar, Pratap Nagar, riddled with potholes, broken asphalt and uneven surfaces, raising the risk of accidents and making daily commuting difficult for residents.Locals said the road had deteriorated gradually due to inadequate repairs, with the torrential rain on July 28 worsening its condition. Repeated complaints to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and elected representatives have yielded no lasting solution, they said.“This road has been in poor condition for a long time. The torrential rainfall on July 28 made matters worse. We need the entire stretch resurfaced instead of repeatedly filling potholes as a temporary measure,” said Rahul Deshmukh, a resident of Trisaran Nagar.Another resident, Jay Rawat, said the damaged surface had made commuting hazardous. “We have to drive very carefully because potholes are spread across the road. At night, they are even harder to spot, particularly when they are filled with rainwater,” he said.Residents said two-wheeler riders were particularly vulnerable to skidding and losing balance while negotiating the damaged stretch. Pedestrians, too, face difficulty navigating the uneven surface, they said.Locals have urged the civic administration to undertake comprehensive resurfacing instead of relying on repeated patchwork.Corporator Nidhi Telgote told TOI that the NMC’s hot-mix department was not operating at full capacity because of intermittent rainfall. “The work will be taken up in the next couple of days,” Telgote said.
