Hyderabad: A 60-year-old woman died after allegedly being attacked by her husband’s first wife during a quarrel at Sonapur village of Wankhidi mandal in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district on Friday. The woman accused of the attack later died by suicide, police said.According to Wankhidi sub-inspector Mahendra, the deceased, Sakru Bai, was the second wife of Kannu, an agricultural worker. Kannu married his first wife, Rama Bai, 60, around 30 years ago and Sakru Bai about two years ago. The two women had frequently quarrelled over their husband, police said.During a quarrel on Friday, Rama Bai allegedly hit Sakru Bai on the head with a stick. Family members who were working in the agricultural fields outside the house learnt of the incident and rushed Sakru Bai to a govt hospital for treatment.However, police said the family, which was financially weak, later brought her back home after facing difficulties in meeting hospital and transport expenses. Sakru Bai died about an hour after she was brought home, police said.“Both women used to quarrel over their husband’s second marriage. After Sakru Bai died, Rama Bai feared the consequences and went to a forest area on Saturday, where she later died by suicide,” SI Mahendra said.Rama Bai’s family later searched for her with the help of people from nearby villages and found her in a forested area. She was taken to a hospital but died during treatment, police said.Rama Bai is survived by four children, while Sakru Bai is survived by two. Police have registered a murder case and a suicide-related case.
