Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training (GCERT) has announced the schedule and guidelines for first-term examinations for students of Classes 3 to 8 in govt, grant-in-aid and self-financed primary schools across the state for the 2026-27 academic year.According to GCERT, quarterly assessments will be conducted from Aug 17 to Aug 25, while first-semester examinations are scheduled from Oct 22 to Oct 30. Govt and grant-in-aid schools will be required to follow a common timetable and use standardised question papers for the semester examinations.The quarterly assessments will carry 40 marks per subject and will cover the syllabus taught up to Aug 15. To assist schools, GCERT will provide subject-wise question banks through its online portal and official email channels for preparation of question papers.In line with efforts to improve learning outcomes, 30% of the questions will be competency-based, including multiple-choice and objective-type questions aligned with national assessment practices. Marks obtained in these assessments will be included in the internal evaluation component of the annual result.
