Pune: Two women died in separate accidents involving PMPML buses in the city on Friday. One in the morning, another in the afternoon.A PMPML bus hit a scooter on which Sunita Kate (54) of Akurdi was riding pillion with her son on the Pune-Nagar highway at Chandannagar on Friday morning. Kate’s son was driving the scooter towards Wagholi from Pune when the bus sped away from the spot.Kate died, while her son sustained injuries. Kate’s brother, Sunil Nagwade (47) of Pimple Gurav, lodged a complaint with the Airport police. A police inspector said, “It is a hit-and-run case and we are studying the CCTV footage of the spot to ascertain the registration number of the PMPML bus involved in the accident.”In another incident, Nirmala Naresh Pillai (57) of Bopodi died on the Pune-Mumbai road on Friday afternoon after a PMPML bus hit her. Khadki police arrested the PMPML bus driver (22) and released him after serving a notice. Pillai’s daughter, Priti Murti (32) of Bopodi, lodged a complaint with the police saying, “My mother was walking towards Khadki from Bopodi when the bus hit her and she died.”
