Charkhi Dadri: In the sensational firing incident that rocked Charkhi Dadri earlier this week, police arrested the alleged mastermind of the attack following a brief encounter on Friday. The accused sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the exchange of fire and was apprehended along with an illegal pistol. Police have also arrested two other alleged conspirators and intensified efforts to track down the remaining suspects. The arrests came less than 24 hours after a brazen shooting near the City Police Station in Dadri, where three armed assailants allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on a Scorpio SUV carrying seven youths, leaving all of them injured.Taking serious note of the incident, Charkhi Dadri Superintendent of Police Logesh Kumar P constituted six special teams to identify and arrest those involved. The teams launched a coordinated operation involving local police units, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and the Special Task Force (STF).As part of the investigation, CIA personnel and STF teams had set up a checkpoint on the Bound-Kalanour link road to screen suspicious vehicles and individuals. Acting on intelligence received from the STF’s Rohtak unit, police were searching for a white Maruti Suzuki Fronx (HR19U-6405) believed to be linked to the case. When the vehicle was spotted and signalled to stop, one of its occupants allegedly stepped out and opened fire at the police team. According to officials, a bullet struck the bumper of a government vehicle.Police said the suspect was repeatedly asked to surrender but instead allegedly fired again. In response, officers retaliated in self-defence and to prevent his escape. During the exchange, the accused sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was overpowered on the spot.An illegal pistol was recovered from his possession. The arrested accused was identified as Rohit alias Katiya, a resident of Majra (Dubaldhan) village in Jhajjar district.During preliminary interrogation, Rohit allegedly admitted his involvement in the conspiracy behind the Charkhi Dadri firing. Investigators said he was one of the key conspirators behind the attack.Police records indicate that the accused has allegedly been involved in several serious criminal cases, including murder, robbery and assault. Authorities are now examining his criminal history and possible links with other offenders.Following his arrest, Rohit was shifted to a government hospital for treatment. Police teams also documented the encounter site and summoned Crime Scene and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts to collect scientific evidence. In a parallel operation, police arrested two other suspects allegedly linked to the conspiracy. The accused were identified as Preet, son of Hajari and a resident of Sahuwas village, and Yudbinder, son of Shubhram, a native of Sanga village and currently residing near Loharu Chowk in Charkhi Dadri.Investigators are questioning both men to ascertain their role in planning the attack and to gather information about other suspects who remain absconding.A separate case has been registered against Rohit alias Katiya at Bound Kalan police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. The recovered weapon has been seized and sent for forensic examination.Police officials said the investigation is progressing on multiple fronts, including the identification of other conspirators, the criminal network behind the attack and the resources used to execute the crime.“The case is being investigated from every possible angle. Raids are underway to apprehend the remaining accused, and strict action will be taken against everyone involved,” a police official said.
