Hyderabad: Saidabad police have arrested a 21-year-old auto driver in connection with the murder of a local resident, Md Fasi Ahmed Ameer, at Singareni Colony on Aug 4. The accused hacked the victim to death in full public view over a long-standing personal enmity.According to police, at around 10.30 am on Aug 4, the accused, Endravath Suman, intercepted Ameer (37), an auto driver-turned-garment seller in Singareni Colony while the latter was returning home after dropping his daughter at a local madrassa. “An argument broke out between the duo, and Suman became enraged after Ameer used abusive language against him and his family members. Suman then attacked the victim with a sickle used for chopping tender coconuts, inflicting multiple injuries to his neck and head,” Saidabad police said.After the attack, Suman fled the scene in an auto. Ameer’s family members rushed him to Osmania General Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police registered a case under section 103 (1) (murder) of the BNS against the accused. During the investigation, it was found that the accused had disposed of the murder weapon in Saroornagar lake. Police nabbed Suman from Singareni Colony on Thursday.Based on his confession, the murder weapon was recovered from the lake with the assistance of the disaster response force. The auto and the clothes he was wearing at the time of the offence were also seized. The accused was produced before the court and sent to judicial remand on Friday.
