Patna: RJD working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Friday demanded an impartial inquiry into who ordered the use of AK-47 rifles and police firing during the paper leak protests in Siwan, saying suspending lower-rung police personnel alone would not ensure justice.Tejashwi submitted a memorandum to DGP Vinay Kumar and urged CM Samrat Choudhary to explain the govt’s handling of the protests and the circumstances that led to the firing.He said if the govt failed to order an impartial inquiry or act against the official who authorised the firing, the opposition would launch a statewide democratic movement to protect the interests of students and youths.“Neither Union home minister Amit Shah nor CM Samrat Choudhary has given a clear and satisfactory response on such a sensitive issue,” Tejashwi said. He demanded action against those responsible for the firing and sought stringent punishment for those involved in engineering paper leaks.Describing repeated paper leaks as a betrayal of students’ future, he said those behind such incidents should face decisive action.Tejashwi also appealed to opposition parties across the country to visit Bihar, meet affected students and jointly demand answers from the state govt. “It is not a question of any one political party, but a matter concerning the future of Bihar’s students and youths,” he said.
