Patna: Three months after he was allegedly forced by his family to get married to a girl of their choice, a 22-year-old NEET (postgraduate) aspirant died by suicide at his hostel room in Danapur police station area near Patna on Sunday. Police recovered a suicide note from deceased Rohit Kumar’s room, in which he mentioned that his family forced him into the marriage. “I was in love with someone else. Under the pressure from my family, I married another girl. I don’t want to live any more,” read the suicide not found pasted on a wall near the body.The matter came to light on Sunday night, when Rohit’s roommate, Aryan returned to the hostel around 9 and found the room locked from inside. He called the youth several times, but there was no response. So he alerted the hostel owner and other students, who broke open the door, only to find Rohit, son of Pankaj Kumar Mehta, the mukhiya of Chanwath village in Buxar district, hanging from the ceiling fan with a noose made of a bed sheet.Upon receiving information, police took the body into their custody and sent it to Danapur subdivisional hospital for a postmortem examination. The FSL team was also called to the spot.Prashant Kumar Bhardwaj, Danapur station house officer, said the youth was preparing for the NEET (PG) exam. “He recently got married in April under his family’s pressure, and was not happy with the matrimony. According to his friends, Rohit was depressed because he was in love with another girl,” he said.
