Kolkata: The West Bengal assembly will convene a special one-day session on August 12 to consider Bills for the delimitation of the Kolkata and Howrah municipal corporations, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Thursday.
The proposed amendments seek to increase the number of wards in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation from 144 to 209 and in the Howrah Municipal Corporation from 50 to 68, paving the way for the delimitation ahead of the civic polls, he said.
Adhikari made the announcement after a meeting of the state cabinet.
