Srinagar, Aug 06: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with a warning of heavy rainfall and the possibility of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas between August 9 and 11.
According to the MeT Centre, one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at many places across the Union Territory from August 6 to 8, with brief intense showers expected at a few locations.
From August 9 to 11, most places are expected to receive a few spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers. Heavy rainfall and brief intense showers are likely in a few districts during this period.
The weather is expected to improve slightly from August 12 to 15, although light rain and thundershowers are likely at many places, with brief intense showers at isolated locations.
The MeT Centre has advised people to remain alert, warning that torrential rain and intense showers between August 9 and 11 could trigger flash floods, landslides, and other rain-related incidents in vulnerable areas.
Residents, particularly those living in hilly and landslide-prone regions, have been urged to follow official weather advisories and exercise caution during periods of heavy rainfall.
